WE RECOMMEND THE FOLLOWING AS A MINIMUM to keep Malware (MALicious softWARE) from getting on your computer:
When ADOBE tells you there is an update to their software, put it in immediately (usually takes less than 5 minutes.)
When JAVA tells you there is an update to their software, put it in immediately (usually takes less than 5 minutes.)
If you don’t respond to these ADOBE and JAVA UPDATE ALERTS, your PC might end up missing an important download. These update notifications usually only pop-up when you power on or restart your computer, so we recommend that you RESTART YOUR COMPUTER AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK
RUN SPYWARE BLASTER ONCE A MONTH if you have this program installed as part of our Tune-up Service.
When MICROSOFT WINDOWS tells you there is an UPDATE to their software, put in the following;
WINDOWS XP users: ALL HIGH PRIORITY updates immediately.
WINDOWS VISTA users: ALL RECOMMENDED updates immediately.
WINDOWS 7 users: ALL IMPORTANT updates immediately.
We recommend that you use AUTOMATIC UPDATING FOR MICROSOFT WINDOWS – but if you choose not to, be sure to check for updates at least once a week.
Setting up WINDOWS AUTOMATIC UPDATE is simple: Go to the Microsoft Update website (windowsupdate.microsoft.com/). If you’ve already got automatic updating turned on, then Windows Update in Control Panel will open and show your update status. If it’s not yet turned on, you’ll be guided through the steps to do so. After that, all the latest security and performance improvements will be installed on your PC quickly and reliably.
When you turn on automatic updating, most updates will download and install without you having to lift a finger. But sometimes Windows Update will need your input during an installation and you’ll see an alert in the notification area at the far right of the taskbar—be sure to click it. If you don’t respond to a Windows Update alert, your PC might end up missing an important download.
